Accessibility statement for risr/advance

risr/advance logo

Our promise to you

risr/ is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Our efforts are ongoing as we implement the relevant improvements to meet WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines over time. If you need assistance in using risr/advance, or have specific questions or concerns about the accessibility of the site, please contact us at info@risr.global.

How we support accessibility

risr/ takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of risr/advance:

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.
  • Appoint an accessibility officer and/or ombudsperson.
  • Aim to provide continual accessibility training for our staff.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use risr/advance. You should be able to:

  • Use the website without encountering any flashing, scrolling, or moving text.
  • Use your screen reader to listen to most of the website. This includes the most recent versions of Job Access with Speech (JAWS), NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) and VoiceOver on mac.
  • Use and navigate most of the website with your keyboard alone.
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software.
  • Use the website without encountering any time limits except where required to ensure your security and privacy.

How we test for accessibility

Our main approach to accessibility testing of risr/advance is as follows:

  • We use an automated testing tool on a representative sample of pages, selected to cover all the different page or content types.
  • We manually test new features as they are developed using a combination of screen reader, browser, and keyboard-only testing.
  • We include automated tests in our CI pipelines.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. risr/advance is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Additional accessibility considerations

Although our goal is WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance, within risr/advance, we have also applied some Level AAA Success Criteria.

For example, we used regions and landmarks to identify page regions. We don’t use images of text. No content flashes more than three times per second.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

As part of our commitment to accessibility, we aim to ensure that risr/advance is compatible with:

  • Recent versions of popular screen readers
  • Operating system screen magnifiers
  • Speech recognition software
  • Operating system speech packages

Technical specifications

Accessibility of risr/advance relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • SVG

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of risr/advance, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations along with a tentative timeframe resolution. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations

  • Images uploaded by our users: Uploaded images may not always have text alternatives because although we advise users to attach meaningful image descriptions, we cannot always guarantee their quality. We aim to monitor and fix issues as they arise.
  • Videos and audio embedded by our users: Embedded multimedia may not always have transcripts because although we advise users to provide transcripts of both audio and video uploaded to the site, we cannot always guarantee it. We continue to advise our users to ensure the presence of transcripts.
  • Keyboard navigation: While most of risr/advance is usable with just a keyboard, some parts are still under development. For example, the WYSIWYG editor controls have no meaningful labels. Certain web form widgets, such as custom selects, cannot be properly used with a keyboard. Dashboard widgets cannot be repositioned with just a keyboard. Hierarchical categories cannot be reordered with just a keyboard.
  • Links in the text: Some links are only identifiable using colour alone. Additionally, some link text isn’t descriptive enough when taken out of context.
  • Error identification: User errors are either not automatically detected or suggestions for correction are not given. In complex forms with conditional field visibility, the Save button can remain disabled even after all required fields are completed, without any indication of what is missing.
  • Roles: Not all content may be robust enough that it can be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies. For example, when paginating or updating data in a report, there is no indication that there is new information on the page.
  • Charts: Some charts use colour alone to distinguish between different data.
  • Target size: Some icons used as links have a smaller target size.
  • Third–party websites: risr/advance may link to, or interface with, third party websites that we do not control. These third-party vendors may not have undertaken the same efforts that we have in order to comply with WCAG-2.2 AA standards.

Known limitations remediation timeline
