It was a fantastic few days at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham and now as we reflect on our time at the ASME 2026, we want to share some of the key takeaways we gained from the conference.
This year’s theme, Beyond Boundaries: Innovation, Inclusion and Impact in Health Professions Education, resonated deeply with the conversations we had with educators, researchers and deans from across the globe. It was inspiring to engage with so many professionals who are challenging traditional models to create more resilient, equitable, and effective learning systems.
Innovation: Shaping the Future of Assessment
A central focus of our discussions at the risr/ booth was how technology is evolving from a mere administrative tool into a driver of educational transformation. We found that delegates were particularly interested in how our module based platform, enhanced by risr/ai, is helping institutions bridge the gap between complex assessment structures and seamless execution.
We saw firsthand how the drive for innovation is pushing institutions to rethink their workflows, replacing manual, highburden processes with agile, digital-first solutions.
Impact and Inclusion in Practice
The “Impact” element of this year’s theme is what truly drives our mission. It wasn’t just about sharing what risr/ can do, it was about showcasing the tangible success our partners have already achieved. Throughout the event, we were proud to highlight how our platform is being used to capture evidence of progress and improve learner outcomes:
- Streamlining Operations: Our success story with Bristol Dental School sparked significant interest, proving that reducing administrative burdens, like OSCE preparation time, directly frees up educators to focus on clinical excellence.
- Modernising Assessment: The transformation at the University of Melbourne resonated with many attendees looking to modernise complex veterinary examination structures, demonstrating that increased efficiency and reliability are well within reach.
- Driving Inclusion: Our collaboration with the University of East Anglia School of Health Sciences served as a powerful example of how digital tools can standardise grading and feedback, fostering a more inclusive and fair and inclusive environment for midwifery students.
- Capturing Evidence: We were pleased to discuss how the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) utilised risr/ to enhance security and streamline their digital processes providing the clear visibility needed to demonstrate program success.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to share their challenges and aspirations for the future of health professions education.
We left Birmingham feeling motivated and inspired by the collective commitment to progress. We look forward to continuing these conversations and supporting your institution’s journey to go “Beyond Boundaries.”
If you didn’t have a chance to connect with us at the event or would like to dive deeper into any of the case studies we discussed, please reach out, we would love to continue the conversation.
