What attracted you to work for this company?

Having worked for 20+ years in large corporate organisations I had become tired of navigating bureaucracy at the expense of innovation, the people and actually getting things done.

I’d known Fry, now risr/ for a number of years and so was pretty well versed on the cultural ideology and the challenges it brought in trying to successfully merge those ideals into a successful business model. That challenge attracted and intrigued me – alongside most of all, working with a true collaborative group of people, with flexibility and autonomy.

What’s your biggest hope/aspiration for this company?

We continue to grow in a sustainable way and be recognised for delivering high quality personable services to our customers and users. Aiming to be the world No1 Medical/Healthcare training and assessment enabler.

That shouldn’t be at all costs, but rather to continue to incrementally implement a self managed organisation, done in a way that gives our people freedom and autonomy, allows them to feel rewarded and valued, but also creates an environment that they are excited and energised to work at without being micro-managed or constrained with bureaucracy.

What is the best thing about working at risr/?

The team ethic and togetherness

Describe a typical day at work?

My days can vary but mostly spent on several calls or meetings each day and usually back to back!  A wide range of topics are often covered from business direction, people, partner development, customer stakeholders, planning and finance, sales, commercial/contracting, operational and service/system input.

Favourite quote

Two quotes I have are first from Edward Everett Hale : “I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.”
The second from Mauricio Pochettino after Tottenham reached the Champions League Final “Without football it is impossible to live” 🙂

What is your favourite place you have visited?

Tokyo or Oregon/Pacific North West
